Breaking The Cycle
Tackling Substance Abuse
SAYEC recognizes the dangers of substance abuse and is dedicated to supporting young people in Lekwa. Our Substance Abuse Initiative tackles this issue head-on, promoting awareness, encouraging recovery, and fostering a community free from addiction.
Initiative Activities:
- Raising Awareness: SAYEC’s National Youth Service (NYS) beneficiaries play a crucial role in this initiative. They actively engage with young people in Lekwa, raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse through interactive workshops and discussions.
- Reaching Out in Hotspots: SAYEC representatives understand the importance of reaching those most vulnerable. They visit known hotspots for substance abuse, offering support and encouraging individuals to seek help in overcoming addiction.
- Discontinuation & Referral Services: The initiative goes beyond awareness. SAYEC deployees are trained to identify individuals struggling with substance abuse. They offer support and encouragement to discontinue substance use and refer those in distress to the SAYEC office for further guidance. From there, SAYEC facilitates connections with relevant support services, such as Social Development departments, ensuring individuals receive the professional help they need.
