Keeping Girls Healthy

Cancer Awareness & Sanitary Towel Initiative

Empowering young women starts with their health. SAYEC’s Cancer Awareness & Sanitary Towel Initiative tackles two crucial issues: providing essential sanitary products and educating primary school learners about cancer prevention and treatment. Through educational tours and workshops, SAYEC beneficiaries, part of the National Youth Service program, equip young girls with the knowledge to protect themselves and manage their menstrual health with dignity. This initiative ensures girls stay healthy, informed, and confident to reach their full potential.

Here’s how the initiative makes a difference:

  • Cancer Awareness Workshops: SAYEC beneficiaries, part of the National Youth Service program, conduct educational tours and workshops at schools like Lesedi Combined School and Nyandeni Primary School.
  • Interactive Learning: These workshops employ engaging methods to educate young girls about different types of cancer, common signs and symptoms, and the importance of early detection.
  • Prevention & Treatment Methods: The workshops outline preventive measures to reduce cancer risk and emphasize the availability of treatment options.
  • Sanitary Towel Donation: SAYEC recognizes the importance of menstrual hygiene management. This initiative provides essential sanitary product donations to ensure every participating learner has access to these basic necessities.

Impact:

The Keeping Girls Healthy Initiative equips young girls with the knowledge and resources they need to protect their health and manage their menstrual cycles with dignity. This not only improves their overall well-being but also empowers them to stay confident and focused on their education.
